Lesson Plan: Introduction to Types of Robotics (Introducción a los Tipos de Robótica)

Objective (Objetivo):

Students will be able to identify and describe the different types of robotics being used today, as well as their applications and limitations. (Los estudiantes podrán identificar y describir los diferentes tipos de robótica utilizados en la actualidad, así como sus aplicaciones y limitaciones.)

Materials (Materiales):

Whiteboard/Smartboard (Pizarra/Pizarra electrónica)

Handout with key terms (Folleto con términos clave)

Computer/Projector (Computadora/Proyector)

Video/interactive examples (Videos/ejemplos interactivos)

Group activity worksheet (Hoja de trabajo para actividad grupal)

Duration (Duración): 1 hour (1 hora)

Introduction (Introducción) - 10 minutes (10 minutos)

Begin by asking students if they know what Robotics is (in both English and Spanish). (Comience preguntándoles a los estudiantes si saben qué es la Robótica en inglés y español).

Write the definition of Robotics on the board and read it aloud. (Escriba la definición de Robótica en la pizarra y léala en voz alta): "Robotics (Robótica) is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots."

Explain that there are various types of robotics being used today, and that we will explore these in the lesson. (Explique que hay varios tipos de robótica utilizados en la actualidad y que los exploraremos en la lección.)

Main Activity (Actividad Principal) - 40 minutes (40 minutos)

Pass out the handout with key terms in both languages. (Entregue el folleto con los términos clave en ambos idiomas.)

Present each type of robotics (in English and Spanish) using visual aids, such as a presentation or video. (Presente cada tipo de robótica en inglés y español utilizando ayudas visuales, como una presentación o video). Types of robotics to discuss:

a. Industrial Robots (Robots Industriales)

b. Service Robots (Robots de Servicio)

c. Medical Robots (Robots Médicos)

d. Autonomous Vehicles (Vehículos Autónomos)

e. Drones (Drones)

f. Humanoid Robots (Robots Humanoides)

g. Swarm Robots (Robots en Enjambre)

For each type of robotics, provide a brief description, applications, and limitations. Encourage students to take notes in both languages. (Para cada tipo de robótica, proporcione una breve descripción, aplicaciones y limitaciones. Anime a los estudiantes a tomar notas en ambos idiomas).

After discussing each type of robotics, divide the class into small groups. (Después de discutir cada tipo de robótica, divida la clase en pequeños grupos).

Hand out the group activity worksheet with real-world examples of robotics applications. Each group will discuss and identify the type of robotics used in each example, as well as its advantages and limitations. Have each group present their findings to the class, encouraging them to explain their answers in both languages.
